The GATES
Why I am so excited about this weekend? I am surely not an art buff, but the Gates is going to be an awesome experience. It is an art project 26 years in the making and solely funded by the artist. Read more about the passion of the artist in New York Magazine and check out other web sites on this big event. The buzz meter on this event in nyc is at all time high. I'm predicting this could be bigger than the launch of New Coke.

I caught a glimpse of the Gates after exiting the subway at Columbus Circle. In the evening light, the orange flags looked like a new amusement park ready to be explored. Alas, time did not permit me to venture through this seemingly life-sized labyrinth, but I hope to see it soon! One thing to note: during the blizzard, small orange triangles on slates marked the Central Park walkways where the flags now fly. I thought the Parks department was just being nice and marking the walkways in preparation for the snow. I was wondering how they'd gotten that to pass the budget. silly me.
